Job Description
To assume the responsibility to utilise 2D and 3D CADCAM modelling software to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings and machining methods and sequences to machine components in accordance with customer specifications and requirements and to the company standards of quality and workmanship.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Create 2D profile and 3D wireframe geometric and solid models using CADCAM life cycle software functionality, design tools and simulator to prove parts and components prior to manufacture.
Utilise knowledge of CAD CAM programming and assessment of associated anti-collision tool paths to adopt advanced milling techniques such as 3-axis milling and 4/5 axis positioning for fast and efficient production.
Provide hands on support to CNC operators by programming and setting up a range of FANUC and Heidenhain CNC controlled machines to manufacture components to tight tolerances and deadlines.
Monitoring of spindle position/cutting depth/speed/feed/coolant flow to detect work defects or malfunctions and enter commands or manually adjust machine settings to correct malfunctions/out of tolerance machining.
Utilise job manager/report/code wizard functionalities to maximise programming efficiency and productivity through the assessment and development of post processors for each machine and control system.
Ensure that all job related paperwork and technical reports are accurately completed and submitted and comply with all company QHSE policies, practices and procedures.
Contribute to the team ethic and perform other reasonable duties as required and maybe required to work off site in support of the business
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Time served in a mechanical / engineering discipline with a recognised apprenticeship ideally from a machine-shop production environment with 5-7 years experience. Must have been able to machine components to close tolerances and have core skills in a range of materials in turning, boring, screw cut, eccentric turning and threading. Core skills must include boring, line boring, thread milling, milling, contour and facing head best utilisation, subroutines, mill drilling and extensive experience of machining medium to heavy components in a wide range of material. Attentive to detail and have a full understanding of ISO standards with the ability to read and understand process/procedure documents and technical drawings. Must be familiar in the use of an extensive range of precision measuring equipment and have a proven track record in both metric and imperial dimensions in programming FANUC controlled multi axis CNC machines or equivalent and be experienced in determining machine settings and program editing. Preference will be given to candidates who have also previous experience in using and programming multi axis CNC machinery fitted with Heidenhain iTNC 530 control systems and EdgeCam software.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Excellent English verbal and written communication, interpersonal, organisational and time management skills with a proactive and flexible can do attitude and approach to work. Must be able to work and perform under own initiative with the minimum of amount of supervision and have a flexible approach to the operation and location of different machines, equipment and working hours.
